Volleyball is a fast paced sport played by two teams with six players on each side of a net. The aim is to hit the ball over the net and make it land on the other team's side. Each team can hit the ball up to three times before sending it back. In volleyball, the first team to score 25 points wins a set, and the first team to win two sets wins the match. If the teams are tied after the first two sets, a third set is played to decide the winner. In some competitions, extra sets may be played depending on the rules being used.
Positions of the Court
- setter (S) The setter controls the team's attacks by passing the ball to teammates, usually setting it up for a spiker to hit over the net (zone one)
- outside hitter (OH) The outside hitter attacks from the left side of the court, helps with blocking, and often receives serves.(zone two)
- Middle blocker/hitter (MB) The middle blocker focuses on blocking the opponent's attacks at the net and quickly attacking the ball in the middle.(zone three)
- opposite hitter (OPP) The opposite hitter attacks from the right side, blocks the other team's outside hitter, and helps score points.(zone four)
- Defense specialist (DS) A defensive specialist focuses on improving the team's defense by replacing players when needed and helping with passing and ball control.(zone five)
- Libero (Lib/L) The libero is a defensive player who wears a different coloured jersey. They specialize in passing, receiving serves, and digging attacks.(zone six)

- A player cannot hit the ball twice in a row.
